Kamloops, B.C. – Surrounded by family, friends, and community supporters at the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre, Margot Middleton announced that she is running for re-election as a Kamloops City councillor in the upcoming municipal election. Middleton said her decision to seek another term is rooted in her commitment to responsible governance, collaborative leadership, and helping build a strong future for Kamloops.
"Over the past four years, I have had the privilege of serving our community and working alongside residents, community organizations, businesses, and regional partners on issues that matter to Kamloopsians," said Middleton. "With the blessing of my family, I am putting my name forward for re-election because I believe we need thoughtful leadership, sound counsel, respectful dialogue, and a continued focus on building a city that future generations will be proud to call home."
Throughout her time in public office, Middleton has played an active role in advancing important initiatives that support Kamloops residents today while planning for future generations. Her work has included supporting the Build Kamloops program and major recreation infrastructure investments, contributing to regional leadership through her role as a Director on the Thompson-Nicola Regional District board and the Thompson Regional Hospital District board, supporting housing initiatives to address community growth, and helping advance discussions related to community safety and quality of life.
Middleton's campaign will again focus on several key priorities, including strengthening local governance, supporting responsible growth, investing in community and recreation infrastructure, maintaining a strong voice for Kamloops at regional and provincial planning tables, and ensuring that decisions are guided by evidence, transparency, and the needs of the community
"It has been exciting to be a part of Kamloops’ growth and its evolution which creates opportunities as well as challenges," said Middleton. "It is imperative for the next elected Mayor and council to make sound decisions that support our community today while planning responsibly for tomorrow. I believe in working collaboratively, listening to residents, and focusing on practical solutions that help move our city forward, which is something I have worked hard to demonstrate over the last four years on council."
Middleton said she is particularly passionate about ensuring Kamloops remains a vibrant and livable community for families, seniors, businesses, and future generations.
"My campaign and the work I will continue to do if re-elected is about the future of our city," she said. "It is about making thoughtful investments in our community and ensuring that Kamloops is a city where people want to live, work, raise families, and build their futures."
